Before I came to Midwest Weight Control, I couldn’t lose weight. I’d tried everything from fad diets to different weight loss programs. I finally met with the staff at MWC and found out that I had certain medical issues that were standing in the way of my weight loss. The Medical Director addressed these issues with me, and I began to lose weight steadily. Since then, I’ve lost 61 pounds and I have adopted a new healthy and active lifestyle. I have never felt better in my life!
After nearly forty years of yo-yo dieting, and believing I could not diet one more time, I decided to take a drastic step. I went through the testing for gastric bypass surgery, and was denied. Bitterly disappointed, I expressed my feelings to the dietitian from the bypass program. She suggested another option: Midwest Weight Control.
What a great program it is! Not only have I lost weight, but I’ve finally made the shift in my thinking about a lifetime commitment to fitness. I look and feel better, and have lost my self-consciousness about my weight. It will no longer be a barrier or an excuse for not doing what I want to in life.
I was the classic stress eater, and I had ballooned up to over 300 pounds. I was disgusted with what I had done to myself and I was beginning to acquire negative health issues, including high cholesterol, rapid pulse, and fatigue. I also have a family history of diabetes – which I was also starting to show signs of developing. I knew I had to do something about my weight.
My first consideration was bariatric surgery. I went to an informational class presented by the surgeons, but after weighing the pros and cons, I quickly discounted surgery as an option. A little internet research led me to Midwest Weight Control. Midwest Weight Control offers several medically supervised weight management programs. With my wife’s support, I eagerly started the program.
I began to see results within the first week. After the second week, I was beginning to feel physically better, so I added an exercise program. I stayed on course with the deliciously filling shakes and bars for 12 weeks, and then went on to the maintenance phase. Now, after 25 weeks, I have lost 95 pounds and am continuing to lose. The guidance and support from the staff at MWC, and from my wife, was instrumental to my success. I did not find any difficulties. The shakes and bars tasted good, and were so nutritionally dense, that I never went hungry or lusted after solid foods. The program was very motivating. Every week when I weighed in and saw the progress, it made me even more motivated to continue.
I believe the decision to join MWC as an alternative to bariatric surgery was one of the wisest choices I made, and the staff made it easy to succeed. They were there every step of the way, and continue to be there for me during the all important maintenance phase. I will soon reach my ideal body weight, and have a whole new outlook and healthy lifestyle.
At the time I started at Midwest Weight Control, I weighed 239 pounds. I have battled weight my entire life. Due to my Diabetes and heart Disease, we had to customize my plan. I am happy to say I now weigh 195 pounds.I cannot say enough good things about the program and the staff that helped me achieve and surpass the goals that I set. The help and encouragement was invaluable.
Everyone has always been cheerful and supportive. I think that not wanting to disappoint the staff at Midwest Weight Control played a big part in my weight loss program. Now I am going into the maintenance part of my program. I am looking forward to this phase and not gaining my weight back.Once again, thank you to all the great people at Midwest Weight Control.
I started at Midwest Weight Control in November and lost 50 lbs in 6 months. Once you get started and commit to change it is quite easy. There are days when you feel like you can’t drink another shake but that’s o.k. I’ve learned through everyone at the office that tomorrow is another day and I can get right back onto the plan and still lose weight. After my initial weight loss the dietitian helped build a plan that included “real” food and taught me how to eat more sensibly while still keeping my goals in mind.Coming from a family that counts heart disease and high blood pressure as major contributors to early death losing weight was also a necessity. My cholesterol and blood pressure have dropped, so much so that I have almost been able to stop prescription medication. My body fat percent and BMI have dropped as well. Just one look at those numbers and I am totally re-motivated.
I saw a friend from many years ago and they said I looked better than I did in high school-just wait until my next reunion.
Midwest Weight Control literally saved me from surgery. I was preparing to undergo lap-band surgery I looked for other options and found MWC. When I met with the intake nurse, she explained the process and expectations of the clinic and weight loss process very well. I signed up and started a new journey. The monitoring and guidance from the entire staff provided me with great motivation and incentive to stay with the program. It was great to continually lose weight without depriving myself.
I have not only been able to continue to lose the last few pounds, but I am maintaining along the way. Maintaining my weight after previous weight loss attempts was nonexistent. It was like; okay made my goal, now I can eat again. Not this time, I have learned the art of moderation and exercise, which I believe I can continue for the rest of my life. Thank you MWC!
I had lots of reasons why I wanted to lose weight. My overall health was not good. I had high blood pressure, indigestion, and sleep apnea. I would wake up so many times during the night, I was never well-rested and as alert during the day. I was worried because I have a family history of weight related health problems, and I didn’t want to go down that road, too. Besides all of that, my self-esteem wasn’t as good as it could have been. I didn’t think I was attractive to the opposite sex, so I felt bad about myself. Since I’ve lost 65 pounds in 4 ½ months (and I’m still going!) at Midwest Weight Control, everything has changed. I have a much more positive mental framework. I’m not concerned anymore about how people think of my looks at work. I feel great getting compliments. My health is vastly improved. I sleep great at night, so I have better energy. I have new clothes, and even a new girlfriend! What I’ve learned about myself is that I can change my eating habits. My fast food days are over. I’ve also learned I can really do something when I set my mind to it. I can rise above my family history and overcome obstacles. MWC has taught me about nutrition and a whole lot more. I like that the program is structured. I work well in that framework. I’ve also learned that if I have a bad day, it won’t kill me. I just get back on track. Checking in with the staff there keeps me honest. The staff is so nice and helpful. Now, I actually look forward to stepping on the scale!”
I, like many women, have struggled with weight for most of my adult life. I would lose and gain, lose and gain. When my son and daughter both announced they were getting married, my husband and I were thrilled! I was totally motivated to look and feel better for my kids. I had heard several radio commercials for Midwest Weight Control and I said to myself, this sounds like a program that could work for me, one that I may actually finish! To date, I’ve lost nearly 50 pounds! I have gone from a size 16 to a 6, and felt great in my Mother-of-the Bride dress when my daughter got married in October. A key to my success has truely been the people at Midwest Weight Control. Even though I am now on maintenance, I still go in most every week to be weighed. I am encouraged because the maintenance phase is for an entire year! They call and remind me of my weigh-in appointments which stresses how important it is for me to be accountable!
I came to MWC having had gastric bypass surgery 3 years earlier. The weight had come back on and I realized that to keep the weight off, my lifestyle had to change. Because of the surgery, I was used to losing large amounts of weight quickly, and I needed to find a way to lose the same way. Not just one pound per week. That is why MWC was such a great place to go.The staff was involved on a weekly basis with how I was doing. They encouraged me by knowing me personally and keeping me accountable. I always looked forward to coming back the next week because they always took the time for me, and made me feel like I was the only patient they had, and that I was important. I needed someone to take charge of my needs and the personalized care encouraged me to continue.
The support and education I received from the staff through transition and maintenance phase was just what I needed, too. Every week got better and better. I wanted this feeling to continue. The weight loss turned my self-esteem around and my outlook on life improved.
My goal is to help other people learn to feel great through this program.
I made my own bucket list, goals I wanted to accomplish. Some things were going to be easy and others seemed almost impossible, but I was going to cross everything off my list. One of my “almost impossible” goals was to be under a certain weight. In the first two months of the year, on my own, I lost nine pounds. Then, in March, I found Midwest Weight Control. The weight started to come off much faster, which kept me motivated to keep going. I was changing so fast. I started to want to do things that I’ve never wanted to do before, like take a cardio boot camp class. I can’t even explain how much better I feel both physically and mentally. By finishing my “to do” list, I no longer spend time thinking of the things I need to do. Now, when holidays and special occasions come along, I no longer secretly wish that by the same time next year, I will be different. I already am.
Hi, my name is Stacy. At 291 pounds, I was at my heaviest weight, clinically depressed, and feeling as if my life was spinning out of control. I knew that I was staring down the barrel of diabetes and high blood pressure. My self-esteem was at an all time low. I had tried so many “diets” over the years, experiencing some weight loss only to gain it all back once I came “off the diet.” I had just had a picture taken for a local paper and for the first time in an awful long while, I saw what other people saw when they looked at me. I was horrified; I knew that I had to do something.
I heard a commercial for Midwest Weight Control on the radio one morning while I was working. The soothing voice of Nurse Patty Lucas said, “You owe it to yourself to come in for a free consultation.” As a mom of three, I did not often think of owing myself anything. I needed to take care of my husband, my kids, the house, the bills, the dogs… never did I think of taking care of myself. After researching the clinic online, I called and made an appointment. I began my program the very next day.
The program was easy to follow, I did not have to think about what I was going to eat or when. I met with the nutritionist; we created a plan together so that I was eating every three hours. I was never hungry, and the weight was coming off fast, which helped keep me motivated to stick with it. When I had special events or holidays coming up in my life, I sat down and talked to the nutritionist so that I had a plan I could live with.
Each week as I went to the clinic to pick up my food and do my weigh in, I was met with smiling faces from the entire clinic staff. They have become an important part of my support system. I now look forward to getting on the scale, because I have a positive and healthy perception of my body and my eating habits. I monitor my daily food intake and make adjustments when I need to so that I can stay on course.
With three children, it has become increasingly important to me to be able to teach them to have a positive body image and a healthy relationship with food and exercise. I have, for the first time in their lives, been able to lead by example.
Fast-forward nine months… I have lost 118 pounds so far, in just 9 months! I have gone from a tight size 24-26 to a comfortable size 12. I have lost 40 inches from my neck waist and hips. I have made many healthy lifestyle changes, ones that I know that I will be able to stick with for the rest of my life.
